Pakistan received $3.59 billion in remittances from overseas workers in September 2026, with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) accounting for nearly 46 percent of the total, according to the latest State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) data.

The inflow was 1.9 percent lower than the $3.66 billion received in August but 12.7 percent higher than the $3.18 billion recorded in September 2025.

Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances, sending $899.1 million to Pakistan during the month. The amount increased 2.9 percent from August and was 19.7 percent higher than the $751 million received a year earlier.

The UAE ranked second with $748.5 million. Its contribution edged down from $749.8 million in August but increased 10.5 percent compared with September last year.

Together, Saudi Arabia and the UAE sent nearly $1.65 billion to Pakistan, accounting for around 46 percent of the country’s total remittances in September.

Dubai accounted for the largest share of money sent from the UAE, contributing $617.5 million. Abu Dhabi followed with $104.5 million, while Sharjah and other emirates sent $13.4 million and $13.1 million, respectively.

The United Kingdom ranked third among Pakistan’s remittance sources, with inflows of $515.1 million. This was 8.6 percent lower than August’s $563.7 million but 13.3 percent higher than the $454.8 million received in September 2025.

Remittances from the United States stood at $305.9 million, down 0.9 percent from the previous month but up 13.7 percent year-on-year from $269 million.

European Union countries collectively sent $447.7 million, a decline of 9.7 percent from August. However, the amount was 6 percent higher than the $422.5 million received in September last year.

Italy was the biggest contributor among EU member states, sending $133.5 million. Spain contributed $84.2 million, Germany $68.5 million, Greece $48.6 million, and France $46.8 million. Ireland sent $24.5 million, Belgium $16 million, the Netherlands $9.1 million, Sweden $8.5 million, and Denmark $7.9 million.

Other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, excluding Saudi Arabia and the UAE, contributed $342.1 million. Inflows from this group rose 4.7 percent from August and 14.1 percent from $299.7 million in September 2025.

Oman was the largest contributor in this group at $114.9 million, followed by Qatar at $99.5 million, Kuwait at $77.6 million, and Bahrain at $50.1 million.

Among other countries, Australia sent $101 million, Canada $66.5 million, South Africa $26 million, Malaysia $13.9 million, South Korea $11.9 million, Norway $11.5 million, Japan $6.6 million, and Switzerland $5.7 million. Other countries collectively contributed $86.2 million.
