The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has started physical inspections of backup power systems at mobile phone towers to help keep telecom services running during power outages.

PTA teams from its zonal offices in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad and Muzaffarabad are inspecting telecom towers in both urban and rural areas.

The teams are checking the condition of batteries, generators and solar power systems, with a focus on locations facing frequent load shedding.

Local representatives and their nominees are also joining the inspections to identify areas where mobile signals weaken or services stop during power outages.

PTA Chairman Maj. Gen. Hafeez Ur Rehman (Retired), HI (M), SI, has instructed the zonal offices to continue these inspections on a regular basis.
