Owners of vehicles with engines up to 800cc will receive up to Rs. 3,000 in monthly petrol relief under the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme.

Under the current mechanism, eligible users will get one token every 10 days. Each token covers 10 litres of petrol at a discount of Rs. 100 per litre, providing Rs. 1,000 in relief.

With three tokens issued in a month, the total discount will reach Rs. 3,000 on 30 litres of petrol.

The government has also introduced a weekly token for motorcycles, Qingqi rickshaws and rickshaws that need less than 5 litres of petrol. Each token will provide Rs. 500 in relief.

Eligible users can receive four weekly tokens in a month, taking their total possible relief to Rs. 2,000.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the changes after reviewing feedback received from across Pakistan and directed authorities to make the scheme more accessible.

The government has also expanded eligibility to older motorcycles, rickshaws and Qingqi rickshaws. Vehicles registered on or after January 1, 2006, can now be registered for the scheme.

Earlier, the prime minister had also ordered that registration messages for eligible beneficiaries be provided free of charge.

The prime minister is personally overseeing the scheme and has directed authorities to ensure that eligible people can receive the petrol discount easily and without disruption.
