The federal government has ordered all power distribution companies to conduct consumer surveys to find out how satisfied electricity customers are with their services.
Federal Minister for Energy (Power Division) Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari issued the directive during a meeting and instructed all distribution companies (DISCOs) to finalize the survey methodology, criteria and schedule.
Leghari directed that the survey criteria be aligned with parameters set by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) so that consumer feedback can be properly assessed.
The surveys will measure customer satisfaction with DISCO services and performance. Their findings will also be used as input for future policymaking in the power sector.
The minister ordered the approval process to be completed at the earliest so the surveys can begin without further delay.
The exercise will be conducted every six months, with at least one survey each year taking place during the summer.
Leghari said the survey would go beyond a routine administrative exercise and help the government assess service quality and consumer welfare.
He also asked electricity consumers to provide honest feedback, saying their responses would help identify areas for improvement and support more transparent decision-making in the power sector.
