The Pakistani rupee (PKR) extended its winning streak against the US Dollar (USD) to 242 consecutive trading days on Thursday, while the British Pound (GBP) fell by more than Rs. 2 against the local currency.

The rupee closed at 277.26 against the dollar, gaining 0.81 paisa during the day.

The PKR has recorded gains against the US Dollar on every trading day since December 25, 2025.

A day trader told RBN that the British Pound could fall below Rs. 370 if the ongoing energy commodity shocks continue to affect Europe and the Gulf.

Other Currencies

The rupee gained Rs. 2.42 against the British Pound, with the GBP closing at Rs. 371.10.

It also strengthened by Rs. 2.06 against the Euro and 75 paisas against the Canadian Dollar.

The rupee gained 42 paisas against the Australian Dollar and 21 paisas against the Malaysian Ringgit.

Against the Chinese Yuan, the PKR gained 1.35 paisa.

The rupee remained broadly stable against the UAE Dirham, while gaining 1.2 paisas against the Saudi Riyal.
