The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a flood alert for several parts of Pakistan as rain is expected to continue until September 17, 2026.

The authority warned that heavy rainfall could increase water levels in rivers and streams and trigger flash floods in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Balochistan.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, areas including Gilgit, Diamer, Ghizer, Nagar, Hunza, Skardu and Shigar are at risk of flash floods.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Upper Dir, Swat, Bajaur, Malakand, Kurram, Kohistan, Mohmand and Orakzai could also face flooding.

Zhob, Sherani and Musakhel in Balochistan have also been identified as vulnerable areas.

Urban flooding is possible in Islamabad and parts of Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Sheikhupura.

The NDMA has asked relevant authorities to remain alert and make preparations for possible flooding.

It also advised citizens to avoid crossing streams, flooded roads, bridges and low-lying routes during heavy rain.

The authority said people can use the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert app for weather warnings and safety information. Emergency assistance is also available through helpline 911.
