Captain (Retd.) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry has officially taken charge as the new Inspector General of Islamabad Police.

He arrived at the Central Police Office, where officers and personnel welcomed him. A formal change-of-command ceremony was held, during which a police contingent presented him with a salute.

The new IG met senior officers and received briefings on policing, security and other operational matters. He also met the Central Police Office staff and discussed administrative affairs.

Sohail Chaudhry later visited the Martyrs’ Memorial, where he laid a floral wreath and offered prayers for the police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

He said protecting citizens and maintaining peace and order in Islamabad would remain the police force’s main priorities.

The new IG said citizens would be provided with timely and effective police services and stressed that merit, transparency and the rule of law would be strictly followed.

He called for stronger measures to prevent crime and protect the lives and property of citizens. He also directed the force to improve traffic management and public facilities.

Sohail Chaudhry urged police officers and personnel to deal with citizens respectfully and professionally, saying the trust between the public and police must be strengthened.

He also emphasized better use of modern technology, stronger accountability and improved discipline across the force.

The IG said Islamabad Police would continue working to raise its professional standards and honor the sacrifices of its martyrs by carrying forward their mission of protecting the public.
