The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has launched a crackdown on unauthorized structures and occupants at its water supply facilities across Islamabad.

A directive issued by the CDA’s Directorate of Water Supply on September 9 said illegal additions had been found at water works, sumps, tube wells, and overhead and underground tanks.

The authority said some site quarters had been expanded with extra rooms and other structures without approval, resulting in encroachments on CDA land and violations of approved layouts.

Deputy Directors have been ordered to clear unauthorized occupants and remove the illegal structures. The operation will be conducted with support from the CDA Enforcement Directorate, police, and other relevant agencies.

The CDA also found that some occupants were using electricity and gas without separate meters. It has ordered separate meters for every allotted quarter, with utility bills to be paid by the respective occupants.

Officials have been given 25 days to complete the exercise and submit compliance reports. The CDA warned that delays or failure to act could lead to disciplinary action.
