Islamabad Traffic Police has verbally directed field wardens to issue 50 traffic challans and register two FIRs every day, sources told RBN.

Sources said the instructions were given to wardens deployed across the capital, with their duty reportedly continuing until they complete the 50-challan target.

The reported directive could result in a significant increase in traffic enforcement across Islamabad. If 70 wardens issue just 20 challans each in a day, the total would reach around 1,400 challans. At the full reported target of 50 per warden, the number could reach 3,500 challans daily.

Sources said wardens have also started more frequently issuing challans to motorcycle riders, Bykea riders and inDrive drivers.

This has raised questions about whether similar enforcement will be carried out against drivers of larger vehicles, particularly in areas such as E-7 and F-8.

Sources claimed some wardens are reluctant to take action against influential motorists because complaints against them can result in departmental action. This claim could not be independently verified.

The reported targets have also raised questions about whether the focus is on improving traffic discipline or increasing revenue through penalties.

Islamabad Traffic Police is also collecting an additional Rs. 2,000 for same-day driving license issuance, according to sources. Questions remain over how these additional collections are being utilized.

The reported daily quotas have sparked concerns over equal enforcement, particularly if traffic action is concentrated on motorcycle and ride-hailing users while violations by drivers of expensive vehicles receive less attention.
