The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has put off a proposal to set minimum tobacco crop prices and revise production-related charges for fiscal year 2026-27.

The proposal was presented by the Ministry of National Food Security and Research during a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.

After reviewing the proposal, the ECC said it needed stronger justification and more detailed analysis before approving the changes.

The committee directed the ministry to revise the proposal with supporting details and submit it again for consideration.
