The PlayStation 5 Pro has sold out at several major US retailers, with resale prices climbing above $1,400 as demand rises ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6).

Recent checks found the $899.99 PS5 Pro unavailable at major retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, GameStop and PlayStation Direct. Third-party sellers have listed new consoles for as much as $1,400, while some eBay listings have topped $1,400.

The shortage emerged shortly after Rockstar Games released its extended GTA 6 gameplay presentation on August 27. However, available reports do not establish how much of the stock shortage was directly caused by the game’s reveal.

Sony currently lists the PS5 Pro at $899.99 in the US. The console launched in November 2024 at $699.99 before its price was increased to $899.99 earlier this year.

GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
