The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has imposed fines on 48 hospitals and healthcare facilities in Islamabad for failing to comply with fire safety requirements.

CDA records show that the facilities were issued challans on August 30 and 31, with penalties ranging from Rs50,000 to Rs500,000. The combined amount of the fines stands at Rs15.4 million.

Among the facilities receiving the maximum Rs500,000 penalty are PIMS, Poly Clinic Hospital, Capital Hospital, KRL Hospital, Riphah International Hospital, NESCOM Hospital, Al Maroof International Hospital and NUORI Hospital.

The action was taken after the PIMS incident and the subsequent review of fire safety arrangements at healthcare facilities across the capital.

The CDA also issued challans to facilities in G-6, G-9, G-10, Lehtrar Road, Murree Road, the I&T Centre, Khyber Plaza and other parts of Islamabad.

The authority’s records indicate that some facilities had already been issued notices and letters regarding fire safety shortcomings before the latest penalties were imposed.
