Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves increased marginally during the week ended August 20, 2026, with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reserves rising by $17 million.
According to the latest SBP data, reserves held by the central bank reached $17.099 billion, compared with $17.082 billion a week earlier.
The country’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves stood at $22.587 billion, reflecting a weekly increase of $81 million. Of the total, $17.099 billion was held by the SBP, while commercial banks held $5.489 billion.
Reserves maintained by commercial banks increased by $65 million during the week.
At the current level, Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves provide an import cover of roughly 2.6 months.
