Pakistan’s housing finance drive has accelerated, with more than 7,600 borrowers receiving loans worth over Rs38 billion under the PM Apna Ghar program.

According to an update shared by Finance Minister’s Advisor Khurram Shehzad, the program has recorded substantial growth since June 2026.

Applications have climbed 52% to more than 139,000, while approved applications have increased 84% to over 46,000. Total approved financing has nearly doubled to Rs280 billion, compared with Rs144 billion in June.

Disbursed loans have also increased by 59%, with more than 7,600 loans worth over Rs38 billion released to borrowers.

Agricultural financing has expanded as well. The number of agricultural borrowers rose from 3.26 million in June to 3.37 million by mid-August, while total financing remained at Rs1.26 trillion.

Under the Zarkhez-e program, more than 58,000 farmers have registered. Bank approvals have risen 12% to over 16,700, with approved financing exceeding Rs7.2 billion and around 5,000 loans already disbursed.

Access to formal credit is also widening for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Around 330,000 SMEs are currently using approximately Rs1.05 trillion in formal financing.

Thirteen banks are also introducing new credit-scoring models aimed at making it easier for businesses to obtain financing without relying heavily on traditional collateral.

The financing push covers working capital, long-term investment, export refinancing and performance-based incentives to help businesses expand and increase exports.

Green financing is also gaining momentum through the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification Program. More than 83,000 applications have been received, with over 15,800 approved, representing a 24% increase since June.

More than 4,000 loans have been disbursed under the program, up 34%. Electric vehicle deliveries have also more than tripled, rising from 471 at launch to over 1,500.

According to Shehzad, the broader financing drive is intended to channel capital toward investment and productive activity while supporting jobs, exports, farmers, businesses, housing and cleaner transportation.

The government aims to broaden access to finance and use credit to support a more competitive and inclusive economy.
