More than 2.1 million smart electricity meters have been installed across Pakistan’s power distribution companies, according to the Ministry of Energy.
A written reply submitted to the Senate shows that 2,125,296 smart meters are now installed across the country.
Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has the largest number with 1,153,556 meters, accounting for more than half of the total installations.
Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) has installed 348,135 meters, followed by Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) with 229,719.
Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has installed 119,372 smart meters, while Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has installed 111,948.
Other power companies reported the following installations:
- Peshawar Electric Power Company (PESCO): 60,685
- K-Electric: 50,599
- Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO): 19,620
- Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO): 13,432
- Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO): 9,194
- Hazara Electric Supply Company (HAZECO): 7,659
- Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO): 1,377
TESCO has the lowest number of smart meters among the listed power distribution companies.
The figures were provided by the Ministry of Energy in response to a Senate question about the nationwide installation of smart electricity meters.
