Pakistani transgender activist Hina Baloch has claimed that 80 percent of Pakistanis are gay, while the remaining 20 percent are bisexual, saying that very few people in the country are heterosexual.

In an interview that has resurfaced on social media, Baloch described her assertion as an “open secret,” arguing that many Pakistanis conceal their sexual orientation because of religious beliefs, family expectations, and cultural norms.

She said people rarely admit their sexuality publicly, claiming that fear of social rejection forces many to live double lives and conform to traditional expectations, including marriage.

Baloch further alleged that discussions about sexual orientation remain taboo in Pakistan, which she said prevents people from openly expressing themselves or acknowledging the issue.

The interview has gained renewed attention online after clips of her remarks circulated widely across social media platforms.
