Al Jazeera’s website and digital platforms have become inaccessible to users across Pakistan, with multiple internet users reporting difficulties accessing the international news network.

No official statement has been issued so far by Pakistani authorities or the network regarding the reported disruption.

Countries That Have Restricted Al Jazeera

Al Jazeera has faced access restrictions, office closures and broadcast suspensions in several countries over the years.

Israel: Israeli authorities shut down Al Jazeera’s local operations in May 2024 and extended the restrictions in July 2026. The measures included blocking broadcasts, closing offices and restricting digital access.

Democratic Republic of Congo: Authorities suspended Al Jazeera’s operations in January 2025 and revoked its press credentials.

Egypt: The country blocked Al Jazeera’s websites in 2017 along with several other news platforms during a diplomatic dispute involving Qatar.

Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Jordan: These countries restricted Al Jazeera’s websites, broadcasts or operations during the 2017 Qatar diplomatic crisis. Some restrictions were later eased after relations improved.

Iraq: Iraqi authorities suspended Al Jazeera’s Baghdad operations multiple times, including a major licence suspension in 2016.

India: Al Jazeera English was temporarily taken off air for five days in 2015 following a dispute over maps used in its broadcasts.

Restrictions or reporting limitations have also been reported in countries including Iran, Kuwait, Sudan and Palestine at different times.
