Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday launched an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered Prime Minister’s Office System (PMOS) and directed all federal ministries and departments to immediately switch to the new digital platform, declaring an end to paper-based file handling at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, the prime minister said all official matters would now be processed through the AI-based system instead of physical files.

“From today onwards, I will not expect any of you with a file in your hands. Everything will be discussed through this mechanism,” he said.

Developed by the Ministry of Information Technology, PMOS is designed to digitally record, communicate, monitor, and review every directive issued by the prime minister from the time it is issued until its implementation and post-completion evaluation.

According to officials, the platform is the first government system in Pakistan to integrate artificial intelligence as a core feature for governance and decision implementation. Rather than simply storing information, it uses AI to classify, analyse, and track official directives against timelines and performance benchmarks.

The system also serves as a secure digital repository, maintaining a complete record of government decisions and their implementation status while providing analytical tools to support policymaking and resource allocation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz praised IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja and officials involved in developing the platform, saying it would strengthen coordination among ministries, improve accountability, and enhance the efficiency of public service delivery.

The launch of PMOS is part of the government’s broader digital transformation agenda aimed at modernising public administration, reducing reliance on manual processes, and expanding the use of artificial intelligence across the federal government.
