The Pakistani rupee (PKR) extended its winning streak against the US dollar to 201 consecutive trading sessions on Monday.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the rupee closed at Rs277.9530 per US dollar, strengthening by one paisa from the previous close of Rs277.9612. The local currency has appreciated consistently against the greenback since December 25, 2025.

However, the rupee weakened against most other major currencies during the day.

It depreciated by 45 paisas against the British pound, which closed at Rs374.4166, and slipped by a fraction of a paisa against the euro, ending at Rs317.9921.

The local currency also lost 61 paisas against the Australian dollar to close at Rs194.5393, 15 paisas against the Canadian dollar to Rs198.2122, nearly 91 paisas against the Malaysian ringgit to Rs68.9924, and around 6 paisas against the Chinese yuan to Rs41.0714.

Meanwhile, the rupee remained largely stable against Gulf currencies, edging down by less than a paisa against the UAE dirham to Rs75.6808 and the Saudi riyal to Rs74.0182.
