The Pakistani rupee (PKR) extended its gains against the US dollar (USD) for the 188th consecutive trading day on Tuesday, continuing its steady appreciation that began late last year.
According to the State Bank of Pakistan’s exchange rates, the rupee closed at Rs. 278.1614 per US dollar, strengthening by 1.14 paisas from Monday’s closing rate of Rs. 278.1728.
The local currency has now remained on an upward trajectory against the greenback for more than six months, recording consistent gains since December 25, 2025.
Other Currencies
The rupee remained largely stable against Gulf currencies, gaining 0.52 paisas against the UAE Dirham (AED) to close at Rs. 75.7376, while also strengthening by 0.11 paisas against the Saudi Riyal (SAR) to Rs. 74.0677.
Among major international currencies, the rupee weakened against the British Pound (GBP), losing 40.21 paisas to close at Rs. 368.0214. It also slipped 4.42 paisas against the Chinese Yuan (CNY), ending the session at Rs. 40.9956.
On the other hand, the local currency posted notable gains against several currencies. It appreciated by 31.91 paisas against the Euro (EUR) to Rs. 316.9231, 45.30 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD) to Rs. 191.3611, 15.39 paisas against the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) to Rs. 68.2605, and 57.97 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD) to Rs. 195.4547.
