The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved Rs2 billion for the construction of the Marka-e-Haq Monument in Islamabad, alongside Rs1.289 billion to fund this year’s Independence Day and Marka-e-Haq celebrations.
The decisions were taken during an ECC meeting chaired by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb. According to the official statement, the monument project will be executed by the Frontier Works Organization (FWO).
The additional funding will support official Independence Day events and activities commemorating Marka-e-Haq across the country.
The monument is expected to become a permanent national landmark dedicated to the historic campaign, while the celebrations will include government-led events scheduled around Pakistan’s Independence Day.
The approvals were part of a broader set of fiscal decisions taken by the ECC, which cleared multiple supplementary grants and development proposals for ministries and government departments during the meeting.
