The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has confirmed that all banks will remain closed on June 25 and 26, 2026 (Thursday and Friday) on account of Ashura (9th and 10th Muharram 1448 AH).
According to an official statement, the central bank will observe the holidays in line with the federal government’s notification issued for the religious occasion.
The closure will apply across the entire financial sector, including commercial banks, development finance institutions (DFIs), and microfinance banks (MFBs).
The decision follows a Cabinet Division notification approved by the Prime Minister, confirming nationwide public holidays for Ashura. The holidays will also be observed by all federal and provincial government offices, autonomous bodies, and educational institutions operating under both five-day and six-day schedules.
Authorities have circulated the notification to all relevant ministries and provincial administrations to ensure uniform implementation across the country.
