Traffic on the Multan–Sukkur Motorway (M-5) will be suspended daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM starting June 16 due to maintenance work on high-voltage transmission infrastructure.

Motorway Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed confirmed that the closure will affect the Iqbalabad to Guddu section.

During this period, traffic will be diverted to the N-5 National Highway:

  • Northbound and southbound traffic between Multan and Sukkur will be rerouted via Iqbalabad and Guddu interchanges
  • Heavy vehicles will be restricted from entering at Rohri Toll Plaza during closure hours

The diversion route is approximately 148 kilometers longer, adding nearly 2 hours for light vehicles and up to 3 hours for heavy transport.

Authorities have advised commuters to plan travel in advance and allow extra time. Updates can be obtained via the Motorway Police helpline (130).
