Petrol pump owners in Pakistan have called on the government to replace the current weekly fuel price adjustment system with a monthly mechanism, saying frequent revisions are creating operational difficulties for retailers.

The petroleum dealers’ association stated that weekly fluctuations in fuel prices have made it harder for dealers to manage supplies, maintain inventory, and plan business operations effectively.

They argued that a monthly pricing cycle would provide greater stability in the fuel market and reduce uncertainty for both fuel retailers and consumers. According to the association, a fixed monthly review would also improve financial planning and operational efficiency across the sector.

The dealers have urged the authorities to urgently review the existing pricing framework and introduce reforms to ensure consistency in fuel pricing.

Warning of possible nationwide protest action if their concerns are not addressed, the association said responsibility for any escalation would lie with the relevant authorities.

They further noted that frequent changes in fuel prices are also contributing to public frustration and market unpredictability.
