The National Economic Council (NEC), chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad, has approved Pakistan’s Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the upcoming fiscal year 2026-27, finalizing the country’s national development budget framework.

According to official sources, the meeting endorsed both federal and provincial development plans while also reviewing the ongoing PSDP implementation for the current fiscal year 2025-26. Detailed briefings were presented on Annual Development Programmes (ADPs) of all provinces.

The council also examined the Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP) for FY2026-27 and assessed development spending progress during the ongoing fiscal year. Officials shared updates on approvals granted by key forums, including the CDWP and ECNEC, between April 2025 and March 2026.

A comprehensive monitoring and evaluation report on major development projects was also presented, highlighting progress across infrastructure and national development schemes.

The meeting was attended by chief ministers of all four provinces, the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and senior federal and provincial officials, reflecting broad coordination on national development planning for the coming fiscal year.
