President Asif Ali Zardari held a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday, where both sides discussed national security, the economy, the upcoming federal budget, and other matters of national importance.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah.

According to the Presidency, discussions covered the country’s security environment, internal and regional developments, economic conditions, the federal budget for the next fiscal year, the recent elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and law and order issues.

While reviewing budget proposals and relief measures for citizens, President Zardari emphasized that the upcoming federal budget should prioritize public welfare, the rights of provinces, and economic stability. He stressed the need to align economic growth objectives with public welfare programs in the next fiscal plan.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also briefed the president on his recent visit to Iran and ongoing regional diplomatic engagements.

The meeting was also attended by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Murad Ali Shah, Raja Faisal Rathore, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, as well as Senator Sherry Rehman, MNA Syed Naveed Qamar, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, and Senator Ahad Cheema.
