Iranian lawmakers are reviewing a controversial draft proposal that includes a suggested €50 million reward linked to retaliatory action against former US President Donald Trump, according to remarks made by a senior parliamentarian.

Ebrahim Azizi, head of Iran’s parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said several legislative initiatives have been prepared following recent regional tensions, including measures focused on counter-actions by military and security institutions.

Speaking on state television, Azizi said lawmakers believe individuals they hold responsible for the killing of senior Iranian figures should face reciprocal consequences. He stated that one proposal under discussion would require the government to provide a €50 million payment if any individual or organization carried out what supporters describe as a retaliatory mission.

The proposal has not been approved and remains under parliamentary consideration rather than formal law.

Tensions between Tehran and Washington have remained high since the 2020 US drone strike that killed Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani in Iraq, an operation ordered during Trump’s presidency. Since then, US authorities have repeatedly warned of alleged Iran-linked plots targeting the former president.
