Pakistani mountaineer Sajid Ali Sadpara has successfully summited Mount Makalu, the world’s fifth-highest peak at 8,485 meters, located in Nepal.

In a social media post, Sadpara shared his achievement, writing: “Alhamdulillah, I’ve summited Makalu, the 5th highest mountain in the world. My 10th 8000ers.”

According to his statement, the summit was reached early Saturday, 2 May, at around 5:00 a.m. The expedition team included Sadpara, two other climbers, and seven Sherpas, who collectively completed the technically demanding ascent.

The climb was organized by Seven Summit Treks, which confirmed the successful summit and extended wishes for a safe return to base camp.

One of the Most Challenging Himalayan Peaks

Mount Makalu lies in the Mahalangur Himalayas, approximately 19 kilometers southeast of Mount Everest on the China–Nepal border. It is widely regarded as one of the most technically difficult peaks among the world’s 8,000-meter mountains due to its steep ridges and exposed climbing routes.

Continuing a Historic Climbing Legacy

Sajid Ali Sadpara, son of legendary Pakistani climber Muhammad Ali Sadpara, who lost his life during a K2 expedition in 2021, continues to build on his father’s legacy.

With this achievement, Makalu becomes his 10th successful summit above 8,000 meters, bringing him closer to his goal of completing all 14 eight-thousanders.

National Recognition and Praise

The Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP) congratulated Sadpara on the achievement, calling it a moment of national pride. The club praised his determination, resilience, and technical skill, stating that the accomplishment would inspire a new generation of Pakistani climbers.

ACP officials added that Sadpara’s success further strengthens Pakistan’s presence in global high-altitude mountaineering.

Notable Previous Summits

Sadpara has previously scaled several of the world’s highest peaks, including Mount Everest, K2, Nanga Parbat, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I, Gasherbrum II, and Dhaulagiri.
