National Resources Limited said its Darigwan Area site in Balochistan came under attack from unidentified assailants on Wednesday evening, prompting a response from security forces and a clearance operation in the area.

In a statement issued on April 22, the company said the incident occurred at around 5:45 p.m. It added that security personnel, including the Frontier Corps, moved quickly to secure the site after the attack.

The company said a clearance and sweep operation was underway to ensure the safety of workers and company assets.

NRL said it was coordinating closely with law enforcement authorities and would issue further updates as more details became available.

The company also reiterated its commitment to local development in Balochistan, saying more than 90% of the workforce at the Darigwan site is drawn from the province.

NRL is a Pakistani mining company formed as a joint venture between Lucky Cement, Fatima Fertilizer and Liberty Mills. The company is engaged in mineral exploration in Balochistan, including copper-gold and lead-zinc deposits in Chagai.

The company said the safety and security of its employees and operations remained its top priority.
