The Pakistani rupee (PKR) continued its upward momentum against the US dollar for the 145th consecutive session on Wednesday, closing in the green once again as it strengthened modestly across most major currencies.

In the interbank market, the rupee closed at 278.87, appreciating by three paisas against the US dollar during the day’s trading.

Mixed trend against global currencies

The local currency showed a mixed but largely stable performance against other major foreign currencies. It gained one paisa against the UAE dirham (AED) and remained unchanged against the Saudi riyal (SAR).

However, the rupee came under pressure against some currencies, losing 90 paisas against the British pound (GBP). It also posted a loss of 31 paisas against the Australian dollar (AUD) and 15 paisas against the Canadian dollar (CAD).

On the other hand, the PKR managed to recover some ground, appreciating by 31 paisas against the euro (EUR).

Overall, the rupee continued to display relative stability against the US dollar while reflecting mixed directional movement across other major global currencies.
