Pakistan has gained international acclaim for its decisive role in securing a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran, as preparations are underway for high-stakes negotiations in Islamabad this Friday.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended gratitude to key nations for their support, citing China, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Egypt, and Qatar, while also acknowledging the wider global community for recognizing Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts. “We thank all our partners and friends around the world who have reached out to acknowledge Pakistan’s sincere commitment to global peace,” he said.

The announcement drew widespread praise on social media and from international capitals. Iran directly acknowledged Pakistan’s leadership, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi commending both Prime Minister Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir.

European nations, including Germany, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and Norway, alongside Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Türkiye, lauded Islamabad’s mediation. Key international organizations, such as the European Union and the United Nations, described Pakistan’s role as “strategic, effective, and constructive.” Countries including Japan and Indonesia also issued statements of support.

The diplomatic achievement is widely seen as a rare success for Pakistan, enhancing its global stature and demonstrating its capacity to engage both sides in a volatile conflict.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres praised the ceasefire, highlighting Pakistan’s contributions in facilitating dialogue. EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU Council President António Costa also commended Pakistan for arranging the truce.

The ceasefire includes provisions ensuring that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to all vessels for the next two weeks, marking a critical step in de-escalating regional tensions ahead of the upcoming Islamabad Talks.
