The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a sharp increase in LPG prices, effective April 1, 2026. The cost of an 11.8 kg cylinder has jumped by Rs. 924, rising from Rs. 2,177 in March to Rs. 3,101 in April.

On a per-ton basis, LPG now costs Rs. 262,817, up from Rs. 184,536 last month—a staggering Rs. 78,280 increase in just 30 days.

OGRA attributed the hike to rising global crude oil prices and domestic petroleum costs. The LPG producer price is tied to the Saudi Aramco CP and the US dollar exchange rate. In April, Saudi Aramco CP surged by 44%, while the average dollar exchange rate fell slightly by 0.11%, cumulatively pushing LPG prices up by 34.66%, or Rs. 78.28 per kg.

The regulator emphasized that this adjustment reflects international market trends and currency fluctuations, directly impacting consumers across the country.
