U.S. President Donald Trump has highlighted Pakistan’s proposal to facilitate peace talks between the United States and Iran by sharing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s message on his Truth Social account.
In the post, PM Shehbaz expressed Islamabad’s willingness to serve as a neutral venue for “meaningful and conclusive” negotiations, aimed at easing tensions and working toward a broader peace agreement between the two countries, subject to consent from both Washington and Tehran.
Trump reshared the statement without adding commentary, drawing attention to Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach amid ongoing regional instability. His move comes at a time when backchannel contacts and informal diplomatic efforts are being discussed as possible pathways to de-escalation.
While Pakistan has positioned itself as a potential facilitator, there has been no official confirmation from either the United States or Iran regarding the start of any formal talks. The proposal remains part of wider diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and explore avenues for dialogue.
