The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued NGMS/5G licenses to major cellular operators, paving the way for the commercial rollout of next-generation mobile services across the country.

Operators including Jazz, Ufone 4G, and Zong CMPak Ltd have been authorized to begin deploying 5G services, marking a significant step toward the country’s transition to advanced mobile connectivity.

According to PTA, the rollout will be carried out in phases to ensure network stability and maintain service quality during the initial stages. This gradual approach will allow operators to expand coverage incrementally while monitoring performance and user experience.

To improve transparency and public awareness, operators have been directed to publish updated coverage details on their official websites. These lists will identify specific areas where 5G services are available, along with information on compatible smartphone models that can access the network.

At this stage, only supported 5G-enabled devices will be able to connect in covered areas, and service availability may vary depending on location, network readiness, and device compatibility.

Consumers are advised to activate 5G settings on their devices and keep their software updated to ensure optimal performance.

The PTA said it remains committed to ensuring a smooth, transparent, and nationwide transition to next-generation mobile services, signaling a major milestone in Pakistan’s telecom development.
