The process for registering Bykea riders and taxi drivers in Islamabad will now be handled through the Islamabad Police Taxi Verification App, replacing the system previously managed by the district administration.
According to officials, the decision was taken after coordination between the district administration and Islamabad Police to simplify the registration process and improve security for passengers using ride services in the federal capital.
Under the new system, both drivers and passengers will be able to upload their information directly through the verification app. After completing registration, drivers will be required to display a QR code on their mobile screens, allowing passengers to instantly confirm the driver’s identity and credentials.
Authorities have also directed drivers to properly record ride and travel details for each trip to ensure accountability and monitoring.
The taxi verification application is available on the Google Play Store, enabling drivers to complete their registration and comply with the updated requirements.
Officials say the initiative is designed to strengthen passenger safety by allowing users to verify driver details in real time before and during their journeys.
The Deputy Commissioner’s office stated that the move aims to make public transport services in the capital safer and more transparent. Citizens have also been advised to avoid using unregistered Bykea riders or taxi services and to rely only on drivers registered through the new system.
