The Higher Education Department (HED) of Punjab has announced an extension for submitting applications for Phase 2 of the Laptop Scheme, giving students extra time to participate. Applications can now be submitted online until March 20, and only submissions through the official online portal will be accepted.

So far, the HED has received 131,805 applications for the second phase of the initiative. The scheme is open to students enrolled in both public and private universities, as well as federally chartered institutions and Allama Iqbal Open University.

The program is designed to bridge the digital divide and empower students with modern technology, enabling access to online education, research, freelancing, and other digital opportunities. Under the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the initiative aims to equip students with the tools needed to fully participate in the digital economy.

Launched under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, laptops are distributed based on merit and defined eligibility criteria. The program ensures that students in higher education have access to modern devices to support learning, research, data analysis, freelancing, and other digital activities, preparing them for future academic and professional opportunities.
