The federal government is considering closing all schools and universities nationwide as part of a broader strategy to conserve fuel amid potential oil supply disruptions from the ongoing Middle East conflict.

A cabinet committee overseeing petrol prices finalized a national action plan in coordination with provincial authorities. The plan will be submitted to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for approval and subsequent execution by the Economic Coordination Committee.

The proposed measures include reviving strategies from the COVID-19 period, such as remote learning, work-from-home policies, and carpooling, aimed at reducing fuel consumption and easing pressure on foreign exchange reserves.
