Pak Leather Crafts Limited (PSX: PAKL) has decided to pursue membership of the Leather Working Group (LWG), a move aimed at strengthening its access to international export markets.
In a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the company said its Board of Directors approved the decision during a meeting held on February 20, 2026. LWG is a UK-based global audit and certification body that evaluates environmental and compliance standards across the leather supply chain, from raw hide procurement to finished leather production.
LWG certification is widely regarded as a prerequisite for supplying leather to leading global brands and retailers, particularly in the United States and Europe, where sustainable and responsible sourcing standards are increasingly enforced.
The company stated that obtaining this certification would allow it to integrate into international supply chains that are currently inaccessible, supporting higher export potential and enhancing competitiveness for both the firm and Pakistan’s leather manufacturing sector.
