Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial on Thursday assured that there are no plans to impose additional taxes on the import of solar panels, nor is there any proposal to hike the current tax rate on solar energy equipment.

In a bright spot for educators, Langrial announced a significant relief: starting next fiscal year, teachers will be eligible for a 25 percent income tax rebate. For the current year, teachers can expect either a refund or an adjustment under the same rebate policy.

The FBR chairman also revealed that efforts are underway to secure further relief for the salaried class, with ongoing discussions in coordination with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He added that talks are in progress to extend support to other sectors as well.
