The federal government is expected to postpone the presentation of the Budget 2025–26 to June 12, as Eid ul-Azha holidays and scheduling complications disrupt the usual timeline.
Eid ul-Azha is anticipated to fall on June 7, 8, and 9 (Saturday through Monday). While authorities are considering declaring June 9, a Monday and the third day of Eid, a working day, holding both the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting and releasing the Economic Survey 2025 on the same day has proven logistically challenging.
The NEC meeting, which typically spans a full day, involves the participation of all four provincial chief ministers, the prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and representatives from Gilgit-Baltistan. Traditionally, the federal budget is presented two days after the NEC meeting, making June 12 the most likely date for the budget’s tabling this year.
The budget presentation had already been pushed from June 2 to June 10 earlier this month. With several key decisions still pending and the holiday overlap complicating matters, another delay in the FY26 budget announcement appears increasingly likely.
