The National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) has issued a weather advisory warning of rain, windstorms, thunderstorms, and snowfall in various parts of Pakistan from February 25 to March 1. The advisory highlights potential risks of flash floods, landslides, and disruptions in affected areas.
According to the NEOC, Islamabad, upper Punjab, the Potohar region, and parts of central, southern, and northeastern Punjab are expected to experience rain, wind, and thunderstorms, with some areas likely to witness hailstorms or snowfall. Heavy rainfall in these regions could trigger flash floods in vulnerable areas.
In Balochistan, western, northwestern, and northern regions are forecasted to receive rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall over the hills, with flash flooding posing a significant risk in certain areas.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s upper and western parts, including the Malakand and Hazara divisions, are likely to face strong winds, thunderstorms, and snowfall. Heavy rain in northern KP could result in landslides and flash floods, further complicating travel and daily activities.
Similar weather conditions are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where snowfall may disrupt transportation and daily life. Meanwhile, Sindh is forecasted to remain cold and dry during this period.
The National Disaster Monitoring Authority (NDMA) is actively monitoring the situation and coordinating response efforts. Authorities have advised travelers, particularly in Murree and Galliyat, to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel. The public is encouraged to stay informed through the ‘Pak NDMA Alert App’ for real-time updates and safety information.
