The Dubai Chamber of Commerce saw a record-breaking year in 2024, with 70,000 new companies joining its ranks, according to recently released data. Pakistani businesses accounted for over 8% of the new registrations, highlighting the growing interest of Pakistani investors in Dubai’s thriving business environment.
By the end of 2024, the total number of active members in the chamber reached 258,318, reflecting an 18% annual growth compared to 2023. This surge underscores Dubai’s increasing appeal as a global business hub and a preferred destination for entrepreneurs and investors.
During the first nine months of 2024, 6,061 Pakistani companies registered with the chamber, making Pakistan the second-largest contributor by nationality. Indian companies took the top spot with 12,142 registrations, while Egyptian businesses ranked third with 3,611. Full-year data on company nationalities is yet to be released.
In addition to the rise in memberships, the chamber reported that the value of exports and re-exports by its members exceeded AED 300 billion for the first time in its history, reaching AED 309.6 billion in 2024. This represents an annual growth of 9.2%, further solidifying Dubai’s position as a key player in global trade.
His Excellency Abdul Aziz Abdulla Al Ghurair, Chairman of Dubai Chambers, emphasized Dubai’s role as a global business hub, stating, “Dubai continues to strengthen its position as a leading platform for growth and expansion across all sectors. The emirate’s business-friendly environment, supported by strong public-private sector partnerships, is driving economic growth and creating new opportunities for companies and investors.”
The chamber also expanded its global reach in 2024 by establishing nine new Business Councils representing investors from Greece, Poland, Mexico, Colombia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Costa Rica, South Korea, and Vietnam. These councils aim to foster international collaboration and attract more businesses to Dubai.
Dubai’s reputation as a global business destination was further reinforced by its ranking as the eighth-best city worldwide and the top city in the Middle East in the Global Power City Index 2024 (GPCI) for the second consecutive year.
Commenting on the opportunities for Pakistani businesses, legal expert Kamal Jabbar noted, “For Pakistani investors, this is a clear signal to accelerate their efforts and tap into a market designed for innovation and rapid growth. SMEs from Pakistan can benefit from Dubai’s global network by forming partnerships, participating in trade expos, and utilizing free zones to facilitate seamless market entry.”
