Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) have called for a raise in their salaries, arguing that their current monthly wages are significantly lower than those of provincial lawmakers. The demand was raised during a meeting with National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

The MNAs highlighted the disparity in salaries and benefits, pointing to the recent salary hike for Punjab Assembly members as a precedent. They urged the implementation of recommendations for salary increments to address the imbalance.

In response, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq requested budgetary details from the Accounts Department of the National Assembly Secretariat. He assured the members that he would take up the matter with the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister.

If the government approves the proposal, a bill will be introduced to increase the salaries of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and National Assembly members. Currently, MNAs receive a monthly salary and travel allowances amounting to Rs. 218,000.
