Mobile internet services have been restored in Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Wednesday morning following a three-day suspension. The disruption was implemented by authorities as part of a lockdown to manage peaceful protests, leaving residents dependent on Wi-Fi and traditional mobile calls.

The protests concluded late Tuesday night after a forceful operation by law enforcement agencies at Jinnah Avenue. With the situation stabilizing, normalcy is gradually returning to the twin cities. According to sources from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the internet suspension was carried out under directives from the Interior Ministry for security reasons.

In addition to mobile internet, access to social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp was restricted using a firewall, causing users to experience difficulties in uploading and downloading media files. While mobile internet services have resumed, PTA sources indicate that the restoration of social media platforms will depend on a security assessment.

Despite the mobile internet and social media restrictions, Wi-Fi services and regular mobile network services remained operational. However, the extended suspension significantly disrupted communication and digital activities for residents and businesses in the affected areas.
