The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has reiterated its interest in acquiring Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and has requested an update from the Ministry of Privatization regarding its proposal. This follows KP’s initial bid submitted on November 1, as the province aims to exceed the current highest offer of Rs. 10 billion from the Blue World Consortium.
In a follow-up letter addressed to Federal Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan, Hassan Masood Kunwar, Vice-Chairman of the KP Board of Investment and Trade (KP-BOIT), emphasized the provincial government’s commitment to revitalizing PIA as the national flag carrier. Kunwar stated that KP is prepared to invest significant resources to restore PIA’s stature and ensure its alignment with national interests.
The letter also conveyed KP’s eagerness to engage in further discussions with the federal government, highlighting the province’s dedication to public service and maintaining the PIA brand.
