Zong has officially rolled out its 5G services across more than 16 cities in Pakistan following the recent 5G spectrum auction, marking a major milestone in the country’s telecom sector.
The service is now available in key urban centers including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta, with coverage expanding to multiple other cities.
The launch follows Zong’s successful acquisition of a 5G license, positioning the company at the forefront of Pakistan’s transition to next-generation mobile connectivity. The operator plans to deploy and upgrade more than 1,000 5G sites across the country in 2026 to strengthen high-speed internet access and improve digital services.
Zong has been actively involved in 5G development since 2019, when it conducted Pakistan’s first 5G trial. During testing, the company achieved speeds exceeding 1.4Gbps, demonstrating the technology’s potential.
The rollout represents a significant step toward broader adoption of 5G in Pakistan, with further expansion expected in the coming months as infrastructure continues to develop nationwide.
