The World Health Organization (WHO) is preparing for a potential nuclear incident as tensions escalate in the ongoing war involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, officials have confirmed.

The organization says it is closely monitoring developments and remains on alert for worst-case scenarios, including the possibility of a nuclear strike or an attack on nuclear facilities. While no such incident has occurred, officials emphasize that the risk is being taken seriously.

In response to the heightened tensions, the agency has begun updating guidance for its staff and reinforcing preparedness measures. These steps include planning for emergency response, assessing potential radiation-related health impacts, and ensuring readiness to handle long-term consequences if a nuclear event were to occur.

Officials noted that the situation remains uncertain but stressed the importance of being prepared for all possible outcomes as hostilities continue to escalate in the region.

The WHO highlighted that a nuclear incident, if it were to occur, could have severe and long-lasting global health and environmental consequences, reinforcing the need for proactive planning and coordination.
