Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday held a meeting with a delegation of US investors led by Gentry Beach, a prominent hedge fund manager from Texas and a close business associate of the Trump family. The discussion focused on Pakistan’s investment opportunities and its economic potential, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The US delegation expressed interest in exploring investment opportunities in key sectors such as mining and minerals, renewable energy, infrastructure development, and technology. Prime Minister Shehbaz welcomed their interest and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment for foreign investors.
“He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to facilitating foreign investors by ensuring a conducive business environment, streamlined processes, and robust institutional support,” the PMO statement read.
During the meeting, the prime minister highlighted Pakistan’s strategic geographical location, skilled and youthful workforce, and rapidly growing consumer market, emphasizing the country’s unique appeal as a global investment destination. He assured the delegation of the government’s proactive efforts to attract foreign direct investment and foster sustainable economic growth.
Gentry Beach, speaking on behalf of the delegation, praised Pakistan’s economic potential and expressed enthusiasm for exploring diverse investment opportunities. He acknowledged the government’s pro-investment policies and expressed confidence in Pakistan’s growth trajectory.
“This high-level engagement reflects the government’s proactive efforts to attract foreign direct investment, foster sustainable economic growth, and generate employment opportunities for the people of Pakistan,” the PMO statement added.
The visit, which comes shortly after the new US administration assumed office, is being seen as a significant diplomatic and economic milestone. Beach commended Pakistan’s resilience and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, noting the country’s efforts during a recent event at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago.
“Pakistan has made tremendous sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, with thousands of lives lost to this menace. The country deserves immense recognition for its efforts,” Beach said during the event. He also described Pakistan as “an incredible country” with an investment-friendly environment, particularly for US investors.
Beach urged the US to strengthen ties with Pakistan, advocating for deeper collaboration and a stronger partnership between the two nations. He emphasized that Pakistanis are eager to work with the US as equal partners and good friends, highlighting the potential for mutual growth and cooperation.
