The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) have announced that all motorways, except the Peshawar-Islamabad motorway, are now open for traffic. This update follows the conclusion of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests, which disrupted normal activities in Islamabad, Lahore, and surrounding areas.
According to an official statement, key motorways, including the Lahore-Islamabad (M-2), Sialkot-Lahore (M-11), Multan-Sukkur (M-4), and Dera Ghazi Khan-DI Khan (M-14), are fully operational for commuters. The NHMP has reassured citizens of smooth traffic flow and encouraged travelers to plan their journeys without concern.
For the latest information on road and traffic conditions, the NHMP urges motorists to contact their helpline at 130 or visit their official social media channels. Additionally, the public is advised to check weather conditions and follow safety protocols to ensure a secure travel experience.
This development comes after a large-scale operation late last night led to the removal of protesters from key locations, including D-Chowk and Blue Area in Islamabad. Vehicles that had been blocking roads and highways have been cleared, and many protesters have returned to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Major routes, such as the Express Highway, which experienced heavy congestion during the protests, have been cleared, allowing traffic to flow smoothly once again. The NHMP’s announcement marks a swift return to normalcy in the region, providing relief to commuters and residents affected by the recent disruptions.
