According to the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), the Ramadan crescent in Pakistan is unlikely to be visible on February 28, 2025, despite the new moon being born on the same day. A SUPARCO spokesperson stated that the new moon will be born at 5:45 PM Pakistan Standard Time on February 28, but its visibility will be highly improbable.

At sunset on February 28, the moon will be only 12 hours old with an altitude of 5 degrees, which is insufficient for sighting. Additionally, the angular distance between the moon and the sun will be just 7 degrees, making it impossible to see with the naked eye.

Due to these factors, SUPARCO has indicated that the Ramadan crescent is unlikely to be visible in Pakistan on February 28. As a result, the first fast of Ramadan is expected to begin on March 2, 2025. However, the final decision on moon sighting will be made by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

Meanwhile, the crescent is expected to be visible in Saudi Arabia on February 28, which means Ramadan will likely begin there on March 1, 2025.

Looking ahead, SUPARCO has also predicted that the Shawwal moon is likely to be sighted on March 30, 2025, suggesting that Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan may fall on March 31, 2025.
